Shear Perfection Academy was founded in 2014 in White House, Tennessee, with a mission to educate, transform, and graduate skilled, confident beauty professionals ready to thrive in the industry. As the Academy grew and relocated to Nashville, it expanded its vision—raising standards while remaining deeply committed to student success and community impact. Since then, Shear Perfection Academy has experienced tremendous growth and proudly stands as a respected force in beauty education.

Lance Benedict, Managing Partner & Campus Director. Dr Lance Benedict brings 34 years of health
care experience to the leadership position of Shear Perfection Academy, LLC. Inaddition to being a practicing physician for 24 years, his degree in education afforded him the ability to be a high school instructor in chemistry and biology as well as a college anatomy andphysiology instructor. After retiring from practice in 2014, Dr Benedict became a founder and ownerof Industry Lab Diagnostic Partners, LLC, an
independent clinical laboratory with locations in three states. He joined Shear Perfection Academy,LLC in 2024 in an ownership/administrative role to assist them in reaching their vision of becoming the top beauty school in the country.
Elvin Mejia, Managing Partner & Director of Admissions. Elvin Mejia is committed to a reputation of excellence in the beauty industry. As the founder of Shear Perfection Academy of Cosmetology in 2014, Mr. Mejia, a Master Barber and Cosmetologist, continues to pass the torch of knowledge to the next generations of Cosmetologists, Barbers, Estheticians, Nail Technicians, and Instructors in the industry, ensuring that every student leaves empowered and career-ready.
